TRota, the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) project that allows users to combine various transportation options such as public transportation, car rental, bicycles, and electric scooters, has been introduced.

Developed by the PTT Technology and İnnova Consortium and supported by UDHAM, TRota, Turkey’s first domestic and national mobility as a service project, was unveiled at a Project Introduction and Signing Ceremony held on Wednesday, January 25th, in the Main Hall of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) Campus.

In his speech at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ömer Fatih Sayan stated that MaaS is “a concept that aims to make transportation more efficient, convenient, and accessible by integrating various modes of transportation into a single, unified system.” He continued:

“MaaS allows people to combine different transportation options, such as public transportation, car rental, bicycles, and electric scooters. It also promises to reduce personal vehicle ownership, traffic congestion, time spent in traffic, transportation costs, and environmental pollution. Because MaaS services are generally accessible through a mobile app or website, they allow people to easily meet their transportation needs and preferences.”

Sayan stated that they support the project, in which Konya is the pilot province, and noted that the project aims to offer alternatives for future trips and to provide the entire experience from origin to destination, including planning, booking, and payment, all through a single application.

PTT A.Ş. In his speech at the ceremony, General Manager Hakan Gülten stated that they implemented the project within the PTT Technology and İnnova Consortium and with support from the Center for Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Research (UDHAM). Gülten explained that the TRota project aims to provide comfortable, safe, efficient, and flexible solutions to users using different modes of transportation using real-time data. He said, “By analyzing the anonymized transportation data obtained as part of the project, we aim to determine transportation policies and plan new investments, and to develop a sustainable mobility solution. With this application, we also aim to provide planning, reservation, payment, and navigation services.”

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay also stated in his speech at the ceremony that the project will further expand Konya’s smart transportation networks and expressed his pleasure that Konya was chosen as a pilot province.

Following the opening remarks, PTT Technology and the Konya Metropolitan Municipality signed a cooperation agreement, followed by R&D support agreements between UDHAM, PTT Technology, and İnnova.
